Welcome Back
They say the best laid plans etc, well having fallen down the stairs and sprained my ankle that sure did apply to me. I had big plans for all the projects I was going to create this month, but after my accident I was forced to abandon them and rest. Rest hmmm I don’t really do that, imagine a bee stuck in a jam jar….well thats me. Between weeks of enforced rest when I hurt my back before Christmas and now this I was done with resting….but pain meant doing much else wasn’t an option.
So rather than spend any more time being bored or feeling sorry for myself, I got out some creative books and magazines and began to read. I visited some websites and decided that if I stuck to dry media, that this was a good time to get more into art journaling. I’ve wanted to art journal for ages but although I dabbled a little last year, I still hadn’t REALLY got into it. I write a personal journal everyday, but was still struggling with the art journal on the ‘I’m not good enough’ front.
Having read some more of my Art Journalling magazine from Stampington I rediscoverd the theory that there were so many different styles out there, which means there really isn’t a ‘right’ way to journal. So I got out crayons, pencils and my journal and had a go. My creative side was somewhat lacking so I surfed a few blogs and did some pages ‘in the style’ of some of the artists I liked. Now I am much more relaxed about my art journal, I figure it is for me, so I can put in there what ever I like and no one has to see it.
Suzi Blu was the first person who got me into Art Journaling and her whole philosophy is about learning to accept yourself for who and what you are an just go with it. I had to Be Kind to myself, look after my injured foot until it heals. Take the time, while I have to rest, to explore other things, that I don’t always find the time to do. Who knows, they always say ‘Things happen for a reason’ maybe this accident gave me the time to stop still and re-asses what I’d like to do creatively.
Fingers crossed there will be some more creative posts along soon
Best wishes and thanks for reading, see you soon
Billie

Oh, Billie. It’s good that you can see a positive side of things. I hope you will get better soon, and we will see what you managed to do in your forced pause
Hi Hilke
Feeling better lately, at last I am able to get around a little more easily and as long as I have long rest periods I have been able to have short creative plays.
Got two new video’s on you tube and some lovely pictures to come on here soon too. Postie delieverd my latest toy yesterday…. an encaustic art stylus and I’ve got some additional tips for it on order. So expact some wax to be incoroporated in projects before long
Thanks for your kind wishes and I promise to try not to mention my silly foot anymore
Best wishes
Billie
