Welcome Back
A while ago I had a try with Friendly Plastic, which really was a disaster. After getting some new plastic and seeing Liz Welch demoing flowers I managed to modify the technique and made these.
Liz makes hers using a pan of hot water, I can’t do plastic indoors because of the birds and created mine on a heat proof sheet using a heat tool. If you would like to find out how to make these flowers check out Liz’s DVD Bend it Shape It, which I recently reviewed.
I’m going to use these as closures on my hand-made journals. I’ll show you a picture when I have one ready
What do you think, I like them, not so sure the red one came out so well with the extra layer in the centre, I used a Crop A Dile to punch a little disc to add ‘gem’ style to the middle. I really like the purple one though.

Oh those are pretty. Love the sparkly colours and like them all.
I was reading an article in the latest issue of Craft Stamper, Trish Latimer was using Friendly Plastic to make beads and she also used the hot water method.
Your flowers will make lovely closures and well done with mastering the plastic

Hi Lynn
Thanks
I’m a long way from mastering Friendly Plastic, these are the only things that have come out presentable
but like the results enough to make more. Need a lot more practice and a heat source so I can give lace work a try. Love Liz’s lace work techniques.

I have not heard of friendly plastic, but then again, my husband is probably glad. My smallest has asthma and other health related problems, so I would be interested in the heat techniques out on my deck…My neighbors are used to seeing me out in the dead of winter heating or grilling something, edible or not!
Hi Gina
Thanks for stopping by, the plastic does smell a bit so out on the patio sounds a good plan
Its not as bad as Polymer clay which I always think smells like burning trainers!!
Have fun playing
Best wishes

Hi…those flowers are so neat! I’ve never heard of this plastic before. I know a lady who uses the plastic from soda bottles, cuts them into flower shapes and then uses a heat gun to them. Both are very neat!
Thanks for sharing. I am subscribing so I can see more of your work. I just switched my blog over to WordPress and am having a blog candy giveaway, if you have a minute do stop by. Thanks again.
Have a great day!
Hi
Thanks for your lovely comments. Do warn your friend to work in a well ventilated space if she is going to use a heat gun on unidentified plastics, they could well be giving off toxic fumes! Not all plastics are safe to heat!
Best wishes

Sorry for the replying again, I don’t see where I can subscribe to you.
If you are on a wordpress blog too, scroll up to the very top of the page. WordPress will give you a bar at the top where you log into your blog etc. On another tab in the same area is a button which says subscribe, it is a drop down box which then gives you the option to ‘subscribe to this blog’.
Hope that helps, failing that there should be an RSS icon on here somewhere.
Best wishes
