Leaf sketch

Welcome Back
Recently I’ve gotten back into watercolour painting. I watched a clip of Bente Starke King’s Botanical Art Techniques on The Painting and Drawing Channel, or in my case on my computer as I’ve not got Sky. The clip was amazing, and I decided to grab one of the many fallen leaves in the garden and give her techniques a try. Here are the results;

Here’s the leaf I was drawing and painting from;

There’s a whole range of great art tutorial DVDs available from
The SAA and you can see excerpts from some of them on
The Painting and Drawing channel and on your computer too. Check them out, there are some brilliant artists on there, it’s a great way to learn new techniques and discover new artists.
What have you been painting lately?
Best wishes

It took ages, but was worth the effort.

Tell you what Billie – that’s awesome! What a lot of depth and detail you got in. It’s beautiful. Hope you continue with watercolours!
HI Rosie
It shocked me too! Best one I’ve done and I can’t show you the others, my next one looked far too zebra stripped.
Will definately practice more with the watercolours.

Hi Lynn
Thanks, I was dead chuffed with it
My art is strange, I do a cracker like this and the next day something a 5 year old could have done…what’s that all about? I have to creep up on my art, if I don’t try and just have a go, it seems to go better. Hense why I got into grunge and inks
must practice more
