I know what you mean dappled light is a nightmare flickering away. Those stripped areas on escalators and where you get onto them and off them are tricky too, can't quite work out where their edges are.

I can't read red things and red things written on blue or vice versa are just squiggles. Odd isn't it.

HI Lynn

School was the worst time, but once I got out I found my own work arounds and coping strategies. You gotta be determined and disciplined, wonder how many kids labeled as 'trouble' are actually dyslexic but no one has the time to find out.

Thanks for the good wishes

Billie :)

A PS! I've just looked up and read about Irlen Syndrome as I had never heard about it. No wonder you had problems!! Have you actually been dianosed as being dyslexic? You may not be but certainly suffer from Irlen Syndrome.

My only problems are viewing any sort of vertical stripes... makes me feel very ill indeed and driving past a row of trees or fence poles in bright sunlight can actually make me sick! I also have a problem remembering whether I have seen something in blue or red.. I know the colours when I see them but I sometimes have difficulty in saying for definite I saw a red car because actually it might have been blue lol I wouldn't be any good at identifying a robber's getaway car if it was either of those colours.

I am so glad that you found someone who could help you and give you such useful advice. How many people ended up being illiterate because school teachers and many other adults in authority were less than helpful?

For many years dyslexia was not only misunderstood but rarely recognised and even more rarely diagnosed. I am so very pleased that you could find all the aids to help you overcome this disability and now here you are blogging away and writing tutorials:) I bet you never thought that would happen! It must have taken a long time for you to be confident. Good for you and well done:)
