Welcome Back

Had to share this picture taken earlier in March.

Daffs in the snow, 12th March 2013

Daffs in the snow, 12th March 2013

Happy Easter and welcome to British Summer Time! The clocks changed last night to BST the joke being that its still like winter! We have been lucky and the snow you see in the picture only lasted a couple of days. Thoughts and prayers for those who weren’t so lucky and have been snowed in and with power cuts. Feel especially sorry for the poor farmers and their animals who have been unable to get to the animals to feed them.

Even the daffodils couldn’t believe the weather

The cold weather brought the Fieldfare back, will get the picture edited and posted soon.

How have you fared with the weather in the last few weeks?

Best wishes

Welcome Back

We made it through another year, and now a new one is upon us. Regular viewers will know I don’t do New Years resolutions, all that I will, I must, rules rules rules that are more about telling yourself off. It’s no wonder by March most have been long forgotten. In their place, I  make a list of things I’d like to try. New things or things I have in my stash but rarely use, now we all have lots of that right? This is a great way to make it through the early months of the year when funds are so tight too.

So for 2013, here’s my wish list.

Digital Art: I’d like to experiment with digital art. Melting images together, that sort of thing. I have Photoshop and some texture images, I’d like to find out how to bring them together with photos to get more arty with it. Art Journalling plus :)

Digikits: I have loads of digikits but either I stick to my favorites or I just search out a particular image. When rummaging through my kits the other day, there were loads that had great stuff on that I haven’t tried before. I’m going to challenge myself to create from a particular kit (with some extras) to stretch my digital palette.

Acrylics & mediums: Now that I have a great collection of paints and mediums, I’m going to have fun exploring with them and share my results with you.

Pencils & Drawing: When dexterity allows, I’m going to explore more with pencils in my art. I have gathered some great supplies, a new book and some DVDs that will help.

Altered art: I want to try to get hold of some boxes and the like and experiment with painting techniques.

Textures: I adore textures, I want to get lots of photos of as many as I can, firstly to use with the digital stuff but also to inspire me with paint techniques.

Photography: I have a great little Cannon Ixus camera, I’ll try to find out more about getting the photos I want to take, using it.

Chocolate. I want to explore in the kitchen and learn how to make more food at home, have had to rely on pre prepped stuff due to health issues but it’s not great. When my body allows I want to try to make more food from scratch. I fancy trying to make chocolates too….could get messy!!!

HAD to show you these;

My First presentable mince pies

My first mince pies to come out looking presentable. OK I know the pastry is too thick but its the first time I’ve had any success rolling it out!

How about you, stuff the punishments in New Years Resolutions, what would you REALLY like to do this year. Leave me a comment to let me know your dreams for 2013.

Best wishes and thanks for reading, see you soon

Tree Folk

Welcome Back

Does anyone else remember fairy tales from childhood where there were animals or spirits living in trees. Those tales creeped me out. But imagine my surprise when I discovered my very own woodland creature in the bark of a tree in the garden. HAD to take a picture as it reminded me of a horse or perhaps the head of a seahorse.

Have you ever found animal shapes in tree bark?

Merry Christmas

Welcome Back

I just want to thank you all for coming to my blog this year, each of your visits means a lot to me. It can be a solitary business writing and creating, so to see that others read and come back to enjoy my blog, makes all the hard work worthwhile. I hope you have found ideas to inspire you and links to places of use to you.

Special thanks to everyone who leaves a comment too.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas

For any of you reading blogs and wishing you had your own, I do hope you find the courage to take the step to create a blog in the coming year. It’s a great way of sharing your ideas and projects with like-minded people, and to keep to hand your favourite blogs.

Blogging for me is like creating your very own custom creative magazine. Full of ideas and destinations that inspire you.

Who knows where this blog will go in the coming year, now Kenny (my Kenwood Chef) is in my life, I think I’ll need to share some creative ways to package your baked goods. Lots of painting I hope, must get back to bookbinding when the weather lets my hands move again too. More about all that in the new year though.

Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas/Holiday season

Best wishes and thanks for reading, see you soon

Welcome Back

There is a budgie shaped hole in my broken heart. When I came downstairs yesterday morning, I discovered my beloved bugie Tiny had passed away. He had been sleeping a lot since April but was 5 years old so had put it down to his age. In the last couple of weeks he had got super cuddly and at every opportunity wanted out of the cage and would run up my arm to snuggle in my neck. Then when I had my cowl on the other day, he dived in and snuggled down in there like it was a nest. He would even go to sleep in my hands.

I still have another budgie Robin, who hasn’t had as much attention as he might of, because of Tiny being so tame. Its not poor Robins fault, he was roughly caught in the shop when we first got him and I was laid up with my busted ankle when he first came home so he didn’t get as much attention in the vital early months as would have been ideal in helping him settle and get over his fear of hands. He will take food from me so will take lots of time and hope he learns that I’m not a threat and just bring him nice things like food and treats.

Welcome Back

Like, I’m sure a lot of others, a holiday this year wasn’t an option. Mind you, given that when we go on holiday that means camping and given the weather, I’m not quite as sad as I was at first. To make up for the fact we will be having a stay cation, I decided to treat myself to some new art supplies and have my very own art retreat instead.

Staycation supplies

Staycation supplies

These were the new supplies (thank goodness for Ebay ;) ) and I dug out some stuff I hadn’t used for a while and some art books from the book shelf that had been neglected and I’m going to art out instead. We all do it don’t we, you splurge and buy supplies then don’t always find time to actually play with it.

Join me for a virtual Art Retreat

Are you stuck at home this year too? Dig out some supplies you have but haven’t used yet, and some of your favourites and let’s have a play. This doesn’t have to be about Art, you can use the concept of any kind of creative activity you love.

You will need
