Welcome Back
Another slightly different challenge for you today, a little hard on the heals of the last one, but often the two can be combined.
The Virtual Crafting Challenge is designed to get you using the products you have, but may have forgotten about or to try new things. There is a general theme set each month, but how you interpret it and weather you have a finished product at the end of the month is entirely personal choice. This challenge is more about having fun and playing with what you already have
This months theme is;
‘Embellishments’
Brads
We used to call these paper fasteners years ago, but America has made these into beautiful embellishments. They are now available in a wide variety of colours and shapes. Use alcohol ink or acrylic paint to change the colour of your existing brads to co-ordinate with your projects.
Gems
These are plastic simulated jewels. Gems are available in a wide variety of colours and sizes to suit all kinds of projects. Some are available as self adhesive.
Eyelets
These metal embellishments are no longer just available in plain coloured rings but in a wide variety of sizes,shapes and colours. You will need a tool of some kind to set eyelets into your projects. Eyelets can be used on a variety of surfaces.
All of these embellishments could be used in the following ways;
- As centers to flowers
- For attaching embellishments
- For attaching velum
- For attaching other mats to your piece
Ribbons
Ribbons are available in all manner of shapes, colours, materials and designs. Using the right ink you can also stamp onto them.
- As a flourish to the side of a card
- To draw the eye to particular area of the card
- To attach a card insert with or without using glue
