Welcome Back

Today I would like to share a box tutorial with you. I figured this one out for myself and I haven’t seen it elsewhere.

The finished box will look like this;

 00156p007

You Will Need

A4 cardstock

Steel ruler

Scoring tool

Double sided tape

Optional Extra; Scoring board, I used a Scor It board

Method

With your card in portrait orientation, score the long sides of your card at 22mm and 188mm

Rotate your card 90 degrees, your card is now landscape orientation, and looks like this;

Long sides scored

Long sides scored

Score at 114mm, 135mm, 249mm and 270mm.

Your card now looks like this. I have added numbers and letters to help us assemble our box.

Cut along either side of the following tabs; B,D,G and I. As shown in the picture with a dotted line.

Fold up pannel 4 and Glue tab D to the inside of side C

Glue tab I to the inside of side H

Fold over panel 5, glue tab E to the outside of side C

Glue tab J to the outside of tab H

Glue tab B to the inside of tab A

Glue tab G to the inside of tab F

Here is the box closed.

The hooles you see in the demo’s box are for a ribbon closure. If you wish to include a ribbon tie closure, punch holes in the panels 1&5. Thread ribbon from the inside to the outside and add a tag.

The Next Step

The demo box was created using plain pearlescent card stock, for a more decorative alternative, use your  favorite craft CDs to create papers themed to your project. Here is a picture of my decorated gift box.

00156p007

I used plain white card, which I sprayed using Ranger Color Wash spray.

00157p001

I stamped images from Katzelkraft stamps with Adirondack dye ink.

The tag was created using Spellbinders Nestabilities dies. I inked the edges with Adorondack dye ink using a Cut n Dry foam.

Best wishes and thanks for reading.

Welcome Back

I know this is late but finally here is the piece I created for the August’s Six By Four Challenge over on the Stamping Mad Forum. It was made almost on time but I forgot about the picture OOPS!

Floral Themed Swap

Floral Themed Swap

The great thing about this challenge is that it is virtual so there is no limit to how deep you make your card. Postage charges are such now that if you want to add lots of layers to your cards, the postage charges go right up. That was the reason for making this challenge entirely virtual, you can go as crazy (or not in this case) with the layers and not have to worry.

This is a handy size to work to 6 x 4″, it means your finished pieces will mount nicely if you need a quick card, and store easily in a photo box if you don’t want to part with them. I did think of that when I chose the size format ;)

The stamps were Florals by Katzel Kraft and the ink was Adirondack Dye ink in Stonewashed and Espresso, applied using Rangers Cut n Dry foam and then just a touch of Perfect Pearls spritzed on using a Mini Mister.

Best wishes and thanks for reading
