Welcome Back
If you have been reading my blog for a while you will have noticed that I like Celtic knotwork. If you like Celtic Knotwork and would love to be able to create your own knotwork designs, but can’t face the thought of grid paper and sleepless nights then I have a link that you will love.
There is a company called Clanbadge, they have created a wonderful font that you can either download from their site or have a CD delivered to your door. There a variety of styles of Celtic font available, Outline, Inverse, Filled In and also 3D.
The idea is that the various sections of the knotwork are created by using a font, this means that if you press various keys on your keyboard you will get sections of knotwork instead of letters. You create your design by building designs using the keyboard in word processing programs that you already have on your computer. Put them design in Photoshop and you can imagine all the glorious special effects that you could achieve.
The beauty of creating your knotwork this way is that you can build your design quickly and easily and have fun, no more intricate measuring it is also very simple to alter your finished design. Changing the size of your design is as simple as selecting the entire piece and increasing the font size as you would in any other word processing document.
These are an awesome set of fonts I’ve been using them for a few years now and I love them. They are also bringing out a variation that will create charted knotwork patterns ready for cross stitch. There are also Tatoo design set available too.
How you use your completed designs is up to you, your only limitation is your imagination.

If you buy these fonts as downloads from the site you won’t be charged shipping. You are only charged shipping if you would like the CD. You can also opt to have a download and a CD sent, this enables you to get started straight away, but have the security of a cd should your computer have a ‘wobble’
Best wishes and thanks for reading, see you soon

Wow that is so much fun!
I actually have spend hours and hours with grind paper to create my own celtic knotwork only to discover that my carefully put together design was quite similar to something someone else had designed before me.
Quite frustrating.
So I sort of gave up on that and now I just use rights-free knotworks that I like 😉
Hi Liesan
I have to admit my lack of patience and perfectionist nature are at odds with trying to draw knotwork on paper. I have used the designs for Pyrography, so need to alter the size of the finished knot, according to the size of wood I am burning the design into. It is much more fun to create knots using this software as you just open a word document and type letters in to form the twists and turns of the knot, if you don’t like it you can delete a step. It is soo easy to change the size, all you do is select the knot and then alter the font size as you would if it was a written document.
My next challenge is to import the knots into Photoshop as you can get some really amazing effects in there.
Best wishes

Billie
Hey I just ordered the same font set this morning and was wondering how good your experience was with the company was its a real nice set and I may be being impatient but the site said a few hours and its been almost a full working day now. I just was never sure about internet ordering. But then maybe I just worry too much.
Hi Tim
When we ordered from the company we found them excellent.
One thing to consider is the different time zones around the world 😉 When I first started ordering online I got twitchy that things took a while to process. If you are ordering things from the other side of the world the time zones can really affect the delivery times. It may be daytime for you, when you order but it may well be the middle of the night in the country you are ordering from.
It’s really only the BIG companies that have automated systems that process orders 24/7. Smaller companies are more likely to be on limited staff and work office hours 😉 9-5 Monday to Friday.
Best wishes
Billie 🙂
Hehehehe forgot about timezones but got it while I was sleeping now Im going to go play. And for anyone checking them out the service they use for download files. Great service and very appoligetic about the problems. I hope more people buy thier stuff.
Hi Tim
I wondered if it was something like that. I used to do the same thing 😉 If you look up time zone differences between your country and the one you are buying from, if you need to ask a question while they are likely to have someone around, you can stay up late etc or just time your email. If I email someone in San Diago from here in the UK for example, if I mail them about 4 pm it is morning for them.
Its a great set of fonts though, really fun and sooo much easier than trying to draw your own by hand.
Have fun
Billie 🙂
