Welcome Back
I’ve been blogging for about a year now and in that time I have written a lot, read a lot and learnt a lot. If one of your New Years Resolutions was to create a blog but you don’t know where to start then you have come to the right place. In the next few posts I will be sharing hints and tips on how to get the most from your on line blog and how I go about creating posts, tutorials and my latest interest video tutorials.
Before you get worried these articles will definitely NOT be written in GEEK! OK by default computers will be involved but you have made it to this blog so you will be familiar enough with computers to be able to follow along just fine. You may need to invest in some extra toys depending on what you want to do with your blog, but read first and decide what you want to do, before you start creating accounts and buying equipment.
In order not to bore you too much with posts full of writing I’ll be adding these articles in between my normal posts, so there will still be eye candy and other craft related tutorials.
Things to consider; Website vs Blog vs On line Photo Album.
If you know you want to get ‘stuff’ on line to share with the world, spend a while considering how much time you can dedicate to the project. Here are a few options you could choose from.
Websites;
You can buy websites in a box these days. This would get you a lego block style of building a site. The advantage is that you need no IT skills to create it. The disadvantage of this is that you are stuck with whatever design the programme wants you to have. Think carefully before you choose this route, you would need plenty of related pages to fill a website.
Blogs;
Think of these as diary’s or as they call them these days journals on-line. These tend to be written much like diary’s and can be about any aspect of you life. My TOP tip is to remember that you can have more than one blog. It is much better to have blogs dedicated to a very limited subject rather than trying to cram every aspect of your life in one space. Better to have one for Family stuff; kids n pets, with a separate one for a favourite hobby. Think of your blog like a magazine/ TV program, people will visit because they share a particular interest. This is a great way to share ideas and finished pieces especially if you want to explain how you created something. Be prepared to put the time in though, the best blogs are updated regularly.
Online Photo Album;
This is an alternative to a blog if you just want the option of showing others your latest creation, and don’t want to include any chat or long descriptions to your work. You will be able to copy links to your photos into forums etc. Again it is better to separate your album into different chapters. Projects separate from kids, and family stuff. This is also a good way to back up your favourite photos, if the worst happened and you lost the originals, with an on-line album you still have something to go back to.
In the next installment
I will assume you want to blog, and begin sharing the sorts of things you can add to your blog to keep it interesting.

OK I know I have a problem with short and concise 😦 but I hope to cover lots of topics that will help you out. These are the sort of things I wish I’d have known earlier and that websites just don’t cover. Oh and it will save you a fortune on ‘How to..’ books 😉
Other fun stuff in between I promise.
Best wishes and thanks for reading

Hi Billie
I’ve only just started my blog in earnest, and just found your blogging tutorials. WOW!!! I’m going to sit down with a cuppa and have a really good look through them. Thanks so much.
Love Joan xx
Hi Joan
Great to see you, ohh must go visit your blog!
Blogging can be a lot of fun but can also take over unless you have a plan 😉 Don’t learn the hard way, read the tutorials and blog on your own terms 🙂 that way it stays fun and you are likely to keep blogging.
Lots of love
Billie xx
