Welcome Back
Today I would like to share some pictures of the painting I created for Lesson 5 of Julie Prichard’s Layer Love on line class. This time the challenge was to work to a colour sample. I chose a picture of medieval stone work for my colour sample.

Old Stone Wall
The following are pictures of the painting this photograph inspired, painted using techniques learnt from Julie’s class Layer Love.

Billie's finished painting for Lesson 5 of Layer Love
This is the finished painting, I ruined it twice and manage to save it on the very last layer of paint PHEW.

Check out the hidden collage
I was really happy with this little yellow area, it reminded me of the yellow lichen on the stonework and brought a bright area to a dark corner.

More hidden collage
Look closely under that light grey area and you will find some collage, hidden treasure for the sharp eyed amongst you 🙂 The funny thing was this painting started out really pale and bright, then evolved into a much darker finished result. I will definitely be saving up for some more of these Golden Fluid Acrylic paints, they are wonderful.
Many thanks to Julie, for her help and advice and for an excellent class.

If you would like to learn how I created the painting do join up to Julie Prichard’s Layer Love Class. It is Julie’s techniques that I have used to create this.

Billie 🙂
Lovely, the hidden collage gives it such depth 🙂
Billie- this is one of my favorite pieces from you…the green is so sublime..but that little patch of yellowish color on the middle left is soo great!
Hi Liesan
Thanks, collage is still intimidating for me at the moment. I apperciate your encouragement.
Best wishes
Billie 🙂
Hi Julie
Thanks 🙂 🙂 I applied the yellow with a little piece of car sponge. I just invested in a new BIG car sponge 🙂 it cuts down into lots of little chunks and these fluid acrylics apply really nicely with it. Its my new favorite tool.
Thanks for introducing me to these wonderful techniques and these fantastic fluid acrylic paints, for the first time I’ve found painting fun! I’m having a ball in your painting class and learning SOOO much. My mind is going wild with ideas of how to apply these techniques in my own style of creating.
As you say that QNAG is a MUST have colour, I am also having loads of fun with an Interference gold 🙂 show and tell coming soon 😉
Best wishes
Billie 🙂
