Making a custom book. HELP PLEASE!!!
ok, i am a total novice at both printing and binding. I Have never attempted to make a book and am not an author.
What I am trying to do is make a special gift for my wife for our anniversary.
What i have done is have all of her friends and family write in submissions to present to her in a book.
That was the easy part apparently…………..
I have a digital file and cant find anyone who can make the book.
what im looking for:
approx 6×9
soft cover leather
thin elegant paper, velum or rice paper of some sort with a gold edge
black and white print
I can go to any walmart or book store in the world and but this exact thing as a bible or even a blank journal but nowhere can i find someone who can make it. can anyone help. is this possible. please advise, im getting down to the wire and have no idea what to do. I dont want to have to go to some “big box” printer and settel for your typical cardboard cover “coffee table” book.
Hi Jeremiah
Try contacting the people I have mentioned in the blog list, several of them create leather covered books. Etsy is also a good place to find bookbinders and they often will take custom orders.
Hello again Billie,
I’m having a good time looking through your website! Following on from my previous comment, would you consider adding our website http://www.ibookbinding.com to this list of bookbinding blogs?
Kind Regards,
Paul
Thank you for adding us Billie!
Keep up the good work! ~ Paul
You are most welcome, I hope to get back to more bookbinding when I have better dexterity.
Hello Billie
I was wondering if you might consider to include my site http://creatiefboekbinden.be on this page? It is a blog in Dutch about creative bookbinding.
I spend many hours working on tutorials, reviews and information about bookbinding and it would be great to see it go to good use by any of your sites visitors.
Kind Regards
Leen
I have 2 blades for an Ideal paper cutter, the blades have 4700, 4810 and 4850 stamped on them. One is in a small wood package and needs sharpened the other looks to be sharp. These came from an old bank clean out. I don’t know what to do with them and hate to throw them out if they can be used by someone.
