Welcome Back

Well, we made it through another season. The light is returning, the days are gradually getting longer again. It is time to take those December decorations down, for another year, as we have arrived at Twelfth night. Today’s verse, inspired by the titles in the song; The Twelve Days of Christmas, taken litterally, talks of the shouting matches, you see the politicans have, when they disagree.

Twelve Lords a Leaping

There are lots, of Lords a leaping,

So many sounding cross,

For what ever each one says,

Another says is ‘Tosh!’

Twelve Lords a leaping- Twelve Days of Christmas
Here is my cartoon to go with the twelve lords a leaping section of my comedy verse rewrite of the Twelve Days of Christmas.

The finer points of politics are lost on me. So I hope you can gloss over my confusion around ministers, rather than Lords and just smile along, to a jolly poem.

Welcome Back

Today’s verse inspired by the titles in the song The Twelve Days of Christmas taken litterally. Today its about eleven ladies dancing… or not, given the current world situation.

Eleven Ladies dancing…not!

Its girls night in the club,

But no one is around.

Coz we’ve gone back into lockdown,

So we cannot gather round.

Here is my cartoon to go with the poem I wrote about 11 ladies dancing, inspired by the song Twelve Days of Christmas

Welcome Back

Today’s verse inspired by the titles in the song The Twelve Days of Christmas, taken litterally. Today, I explore how neighbours might feel, if surrounded by Ten Pipers piping, in the suburbs.

Ten Pipers Piping

First the nine drummers, drumming!

But things are getting worse

There’s TEN pipers pipping now!

I’m Trying not to curse!

*

TEN Pipers Piping!

Yes, that’s right, I did say TEN

And its not like they are kids,

These are full grown men.

*

I’m sick, I’m tired, I’ve had enough!

I really need to sleep.

So please, come and sort them out,

Then we can, all get, some sleep.

Welcome Back

Today’s verse inspired by the titles in the song The Twelve Days of Christmas, taken litterally. Today, I explore the world of a young drummer, in a house where their skills, were not appreciated.

Nine Drummers Drumming

Last year, I got a drum kit.

I practice in the shed,

Coz if my parents hear me,

I get a look, thats full of dread.

*

I think, I’m getting really good.

Perhaps, they don’t agree.

But when I’m really famous,

They’ll be glad, that they knew me.

Welcome Back

Today’s verse, inspired by the titles in the song; The Twelve Days of Christmas, taken litterally. I explore what happens, when a group of farmers have to change their plans, last minute. Happy New Year, may 2022 be as kind to us all as possible, stay safe.

Eight Maids a Milking

Eight maids a milking,

Yes all at once, on Zoom!

The Christmas party, cancelled!

And they felt, decending gloom.

*

So they put on, silly antlers,

A few in, onesies too,

And they had, their get together

With a slightly different view.

Welcome Back

Today’s verse inspired by the titles in the song The Twelve Days of Christmas, taken litterally. This one explores, the frantic rush that we can get into, on the run up to Christmas. While swans might look serene, there is a lot going on, under the water, to maintain that.

Seven Swans a Swimming

On the surface all is elegant

Beautiful and serene

Underneath a different story

The swearing is obscene.

*

Feet are going like the clappers,

They are getting in a flap.

Coz the present kiddie wanted,

Really looks a lot of ****.

*

The price tag it is heavy,

And no one, has the stock.

But if they do not get it,

They will feel a total crock.

Here is my cartoon, to go with my poem I wrote, inspired by the 12 Days of Christmas song. This one is for 7 Swans a swimming.

Welcome Back

Today’s verse inspired by the titles in the song, The Twelve Days of Christmas, taken litterally. I decided to explore the experience of a first time goose Mum, in the nest, laying her first eggs. Any Call the Midwife fans in the house?

Six Geese a Laying

How many eggs are in a clutch?

I wish I’d known before,

Coz they take a lot of laying,

And I’m getting really sore!
