Hi All
The strangest thing happened on Tuesday, I discovered something I was already doing is on trend! Who knew?! After getting really cross that just when I wanted to look something up, my gadget ‘needed charging’ again, I decided enough was enough and I got out my old filofax and decided to customise it and go back to using that instead. Then on Tuesday I went to You Tube and watched Suzi Blu telling everyone about her latest project for altering filofaxes! I noticed a whole flood of videos along those lines. So for the first time ever I’m doing the same thing as everyone else. But I started mine before I found it all online, so I wasn’t copying 🙂 hehe
Chapters or sections Designed to fit me.
Long ago I had emptied it of its original contents and being low on funds, but with time on my hands I decided to do a custom design job on the filofax.
First up what sections did I want: Diary, Contacts, Blog stuff, websites I like, Wish List, Budgets.
Pockets would be handy, so to make some storage without needing the holes punched in I made pockets on the back of the chapter pages. If I can get Premier Elements to talk to You Tube I’ll put up a tutorial video but they aren’t on speaking terms since the forced Google + thing, so don’t know how to fix it at the mo. 😦
Chapter pages: Something decorative and layered. Elegant and timeless.
I created these using Serif Craft Artist software and a range of digikits.
Insert pages
Being short on funds at this time of year my DH helped me design a basic template in Word for insert pages for the filofax and I edited these for the different pages I wanted to add. It was simple to change the colours on areas on that, to suit my eyes.
So here’s the reveal so far
Diary pages
Website pages
Contacts Pages
Leave me a comment if you would like to see more chapter page designs in the coming months. The insert pages were created using Microsoft Word.
Have you got an unloved filofax or personal organiser? Dig it out and help it feel loved again, use your favorite papers and make it less office and more personal. It’s a great place to keep creative ideas. I’m working on tabs at the moment, will share what I create when I have something pretty to share. Let me know if you would like tutorials on creating the chapter pages and I’ll see what I can do.
Best wishes and thanks for reading, see you soon
Billie 🙂
Well done Billie…..thenks for sharing, you’ve made a marvelous job of personalising you Filofax, certainly given me some food for thought!
After finding a great site for the page inserts I’ve got lots more ideas too. I’m going to do another one for creative stuff. Like an art journal but with the option of adding pages after creation so you can work flat n messy 🙂
So many ideas rushing round my head right now. I also fancy trying to make a midori style journal. I can already make the single signature books for it and found a great tutorial for the binder itself.
Weee much fun. Would love to see what you make if you do one 😉
See you on the Twitter perch 🙂
Never had a filofax but remember seeing very busy people with bulging filofaxes:) I can how useful this would be though when customised to suit your own requirements and you have made yours look so pretty as well as useful. What will you do with the covers?
Hugs The other Lynn LOL xxxxxx
Staying as it is as this one is functional for home but have other sizes that I’m going to make over in the coming months.
Its more about customising the inserts rather than the covers for me at the moment.
I have two A5 & 1 pocket size Filofax. The two A5 size are very old from 2004 & 2006. The pocket size got on sale from WHSmith in Sept last year.
I loved using my Filofax very much but when i got ill they were too heavy for me to carry around so kept them at home. Forgot to update them & found refills so expensive that eventually i fave up & got a smart phone.
5All was well using iPhone but needed a larger screen so upgraded to a Samsung Galaxy Note 2. I cannot describe my upset & anger when a Guru wiped it clean of all my hospital appointments & information.
After this awful upset i went to WHSmith & got the Pocket size Filofax. Time to go back to good old fashioned paper note taking.
Sorry if this is a long winded reply, wanted to share my love of Filofaxs’ & would love to see tutorials on how to customise. I love using CAP2, have tons of digi kits & am loving what you have done so far!!!
Will keep a look out on You Tube for your tutorials. Not happy about the forced G+ either.
Off to rest my fingers now, again apologies about long reply:-) xxx
I feel your pain, it was the flaky nature of information stored electronically that got me back to mine too.
This is my only ‘propper’ filofax the others in my collection are an elderly personal size one and a pocket size one but think they were from WH Smiths too.
My hands are wrecked in this wet weather too RSI is a nightmare.
I love CAoriginal still having lots of bug probs with V2 although I have it on the machine. Found the page sizes on Filofax website so will have a play with layouts for pages in the coming months.
Can’t share pages to print from CA2 if I’ve used digikits as its against the copyright but when I’ve worked out the details I’ll post tutorial on how to make your own.
Also think I’ve got idea on how to make pages with Photoshop Elements so lots of ideas.
Takes me ages to get the hang of new stuff so the G+ thing is boggling me, HOPE I can get Premiere Elements to talk to it again. Trouble is its been so long since I put video up I forget some of the process, see why I make notes for everything heheh
Thats where the tutorials come from, if I don’t write down how I do something, I’ll forget by the time I want to do it again. Those notes get turned into tutorials so everyone wins 🙂
Thanks for stopping by. Do subscribe to the YT and this blog for heads up of the latest tutorials.
Best wishes
Billie 🙂
Nice. I dug up an old planner (Franklin for me) last week and am busily making it new-to-me.

Its great when you can stash dive your cupboard and find long lost really useful things. I hate to throw useful things out, even if I stop using them for AGES.
Several times this weekend my electronic gadgets threw their usual attention seeking demands for charging but happily my Logic A5 sat on the desk serenely waiting to be needed. Life is simpler using that, I am a convert!
You’ve done a beautiful job on it.
Thanks, there’s more to come in the following months 🙂
I love what you’ve done here. Seems a lot of us like to personalise our organisers. I did some with mine a while ago http://www.pinterest.com/gillbrooks/pretty-stationery/
Thanks 🙂 I just went to your board, nice work. I only joined Pinterest last week but there is so much inspiration on there 🙂
Keep any eye on this blog, more Filofax page decoration to come 🙂
Wow this is amazing. I don’t have a clever man to personalise things for me sadly, and I am not very computer savvie – but I just adore your filofax – I must be one for the few people in the world that has never had one – sounds like it is just what i need to keep me organized instead of scribbling notes here and there.
I will follow your blog with great interest – thank you so much for sharing
Thanks, DH set the page size layout and then I customise the content from there.
Check out http://www.philofaxy.co.uk website, they have lots of planner pages in a range of sizes for you to print at home.
